Every photograph begins with a story, and every story is a little different.
Whether you're planning a family portrait, celebrating a new chapter or simply wanting to preserve a moment in time, it's natural to have a few questions before stepping in front of the camera.
I've gathered some of the questions I'm asked most often to help you understand what to expect when booking a session with Degotardi Imagery.
DO YOU TRAVEL FOR PHOTOSHOOTS?
Absolutely! While Degotardi Imagery is based in Mildura, Victoria, I'm always happy to venture beyond the familiar.
Whether it's a quiet country property, a favourite holiday destination or somewhere that holds a special meaning to you, I love discovering new places and the stories they hold.
Travel outside the Mildura area is available, with additional travel expenses quoted according to the distance and requirements of your session.
WHAT IF I'M AWKWARD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA?
You wouldn't be the first, and you certainly won't be the last!
Being photographed can feel a little unfamiliar, especially if you're used to being the one behind the camera.
My approach is relaxed, natural and gently guided. Rather than asking you to hold stiff poses or force a smile, I focus on creating space for genuine interactions and the little in-between moments.
You don't need to know how to pose. You just need to show up as yourself.
HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?
It all begins with a conversation.
Simply head to the Enquire section of my website and tell me a little about yourself, what you'd love photographed and any dates or locations you have in mind.
From there, we'll discuss the collection that suits your needs, confirm availability and work through the details together.
Once your booking agreement is signed and the required payment has been received, your session will be secured.
CAN I CUSTOMISE A PHOTOGRAPHY PACKAGE?
Of course.
My photography collections are designed to offer a starting point, not a limitation.
Perhaps you'd love a little extra time, a combination of portraits or something more personal than a traditional session.
I'm always happy to discuss tailoring a collection to suit your vision, with pricing adjusted to reflect what's included.
CAN WE CHOOSE THE LOCATION?
Absolutely. In fact, I encourage it.
Some of the most meaningful photographs happen in places that already belong to your story.
It might be your family home, a stretch of the Murray River, your grandparents' garden or somewhere you visit together every summer.
If you're unsure where to begin, I can suggest locations based on the atmosphere, lighting and feeling you'd like your photographs to have.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
A little wind or cloud cover doesn't always mean we need to cancel. Sometimes, unexpected weather can bring a beautiful atmosphere to a photograph.
However, your comfort and safety always come first.
If the conditions aren't suitable, we'll discuss an alternative location or arrange another date where possible.
CAN WE BRING OUR CHILDREN OR PETS?
Please do!
Children and pets are often such an important part of our lives, and I believe they deserve to be included in the photographs that tell our stories.
There's no expectation for little ones to sit perfectly still or for pets to behave like professional models.
Some of my favourite moments are the spontaneous ones — muddy shoes, curious little hands, wagging tails and all.
Just let me know beforehand so we can choose a suitable location and plan accordingly.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET OUR PHOTOS?
I believe beautiful photographs deserve time and attention.
Following your session, I carefully review and edit your images to create a consistent collection that reflects the atmosphere and emotion of the day.
Your completed photographs will be delivered through a private online gallery, where you can view and download your images.
An estimated delivery timeframe will be provided when booking, as this may vary depending on the type and size of your session.
I don't offer sneak peeks, as I prefer to deliver your photographs together as a complete, thoughtfully finished story.
DO WE GET TO CHOOSE OUR PHOTOS?
My approach is a little different from selecting individual photographs straight from the camera.
I carefully curate your gallery, choosing the images that best capture the connections, details and moments that make your story unique.
Every photograph included in your final collection is professionally edited, so you receive a cohesive gallery rather than a collection of unfinished images.
The number of photographs provided will depend on your chosen collection.
DO YOU OFFER ALBUMS OR PRINTS?
While I don't currently offer photographic albums, I strongly believe photographs deserve to exist beyond a screen.
There's something special about holding a printed photograph or seeing a familiar face beautifully framed on your wall.
For clients interested in printing and framing, I'm happy to recommend local businesses, including Picture Parlour and Printscharming.
Prints and framing can be arranged separately, allowing you to choose how you'd like your photographs displayed and preserved.
WILL OUR PHOTOGRAPHS BE SHARED ONLINE?
Your photographs are personal, and I respect that.
I love sharing the stories I photograph through my website, portfolio and social media, but I also understand that not everyone wants their images shared publicly.
Your preferences regarding privacy and image sharing can be discussed before your session.
I want you to feel comfortable and confident about how your photographs are used.
WHAT IF WE HAVE AN IDEA THAT DOESN'T FIT ONE OF YOUR COLLECTIONS?
Then I'd love to hear about it.
Not every story fits neatly into a photography package, and I wouldn't want it to.
Perhaps you're imagining something artistic, an intimate celebration, an unconventional portrait or a photographic idea you've been holding onto for years.
My background in fine art and documentary photography has always encouraged me to look beyond the expected.
